The Proud Family is an animated sitcom that aired on Disney Channel from 2001 to 2005. The series follows Penny Proud, a 14-year-old girl and her daily life with her family and friends. The series soon became very popular earning several awards, including BET Outstanding Animated Series. It had a crossover with Lilo & Stitch and a spinoff called The Proud Family Shorties. A video game and a film was released on 2005. Here is my fancast for a live action film of the series.
Oona Laurence as Penny Proud
Oona has already gained attention for her role in Southpaw with Jake Gyllenhaal and Rachel McAdams.
Maddie Ziegler as Dijonay Jones
Dijonay is Penny’s best friend and you will recognise Maddie from Sia’s famous music video Chandelier.
Betty White as Suga Mama
Betty would be perfect as Penny’s grandmother as they’re both eccentric.
Ginnifer Goodwin as Trudy Proud
Ginnifer and Penny’s mother Trudy both rock the same hairstyle.
Benedict Cumberbatch as Oscar Proud
Luckily Benedict doesn’t shy away from ANY role and he would be perfect as Penny’s dad.
Skai Jackson as Zoey Howzer
Skai is no stranger to Disney Channel, having starred in Jessie and Bunk’d also on the channel. Starring as Penny’s nerd friend would be easy for her.
Camren Bicondova as LaCienega Boulevardez
Camren already stars as Selina Kyle/Catwoman on TV show Gotham and she will easily pull off the role of Penny’s frenemy.
Levi Miller as Sticky Webb
Levi also wears sunglasses like Penny’s other best friend Sticky.
Abby Ryder Fortson and Jacob Tremblay as Cece and Bebe
Although the actors are older than Penny’s 2 years old twin brother and sister, they’re both cute so they’re perfect for the roles.
Happy April Fools Day.
