According to Black Film, “Little Fires Everywhere” will be based on the 2017 novel by Celeste Ng.  The novel, set in an Ohio suburb, follows a struggle over a Chinese-American baby between the white adopted parents and the Chinese birth mother. The novel focused on the complexities that are found within a family. The show will likely explore these concepts as well.

Reese Witherspoon is set to play Elena, the mother of the upper-class Richardson family. Kerry Washington will play Mia Warren, a troubled woman who creates some issues for the Richardson family, along with her daughter. Joshua Jackson has joined the cast as Bill Richarson, an attorney, and husband to Elena. The couples are parents to three children who will be played by Jade Pettyjohn, Jordan Elsass, and Gavin Lewis.

The show is set to be produced by ABC Signature Studios. There is no news yet when exactly this series will debut on Hulu. Though, since it is currently in production right now, it will probably be released sometime later this year or early next year.
