Black Panther Cinematographer, Rachel Morrison has been chosen to direct “Flint Strong”, a biopic of Claressa ‘T-Rex’ Shields, written by Barry Jenkins.

Rachel Morrison is best known for her work with Ryan Coogler on “Black Panther” and “Fruitvale Station”  as well as “Mudbound” with Dee Rees. She is also the first woman to receive an Oscar nomination for best cinematographer. The film, “Flint Strong”, will follow world champion boxer Claressa ‘T-Rex’ Shields during her childhood and journey to become a boxer. Shields won a gold medal in boxing for the United States at the Olympic games, in 2012. She was only 21 at the time. Shields also won another gold medal for America in 2016. The movie has been greenlit for some time, however, Jenkins was too busy with other projects to finish the script until now.
