Cannon Busters has gotten an official release date

Cannon Busters is a long-awaited Anime series by  LeSean Thomas. It has finally got its official release date for August 15th.

LeSean Thomas is an American Producer best known for his work on the Adult Swim Series ‘ Boondocks and Black Dynamite. On the Boondocks he served as co-director of season one and two. On Black Dynamite, he served as a producer and supervising director. In addition to his work with Adult Swim, Thomas worked extensively on the Legend of Korra as a storyboard artist. Thomas has been in the animation industry for over 15 years. Thomas is working on two original properties for Netflix one being Cannon Busters and the other Yasuke. The latter being a retelling of Japan’s first Black Samurai. Also, Thomas’ animated short Children of Ether was released in 2017, (Folks can watch that here.) distributed by Crunchyroll.

Cannon Busters was a comic series that was a comic series that was released in the early 2000s made by LeSean Thomas. In 2014  the series re-emerged as Thomas wanted to adapt it into an animated series.  The Kick starter crowdfunding was a success, producing a pilot. Furthermore, you can watch the pilot trailer here.  The series will officially premiere on Netflix  August 15, 2019. Not much is known since it’s official announcement this weekend. However, in terms of getting more POC in the board room of an animated series, Thomas’ tenacity is to be applauded.
