Eric Brooks, aka Blade, was born in a brothel in London, back in 1929.
Eric received his powers at birth when the doctor (who was also a vampire, we see you Carlisle Cullen) who was called to assist with his mother’s labour feasted on her, and accidentally transferred some his powers to the newborn.
The other sex workers in the brothel were able to chase away the vampire before he could harm Eric. He was raised by them, till the age of 9, he slew his first vampire with the help of his future mentor Jamal Afari. After that incident, Afari came to live with Eric at the brothel and mentored him there
In addition to the powers, he already possessed, which are superhuman strength, stamina, speed, agility, heightened senses, and a rapid healing factor that attacks any alien substances, a heightened sense of the supernatural and incredibly slow ageing. With Afari’s help Blade became an Olympic level athlete and expertise in edged weapons, like well, blades.
Blade will be making his MCU debut hopefully by 2021 along with the rest of the recently discussed movies and shows, though no official release date has been given. Blade will be played by Mahershala Ali, who has two Academy Awards of Best Supporting Actor.
Having seen his performance as Cornell “Cottonmouth” Stokes in Marvel’s (now de-canonized?) Luke Cage, I can say with confidence that he will do a fantastic job bring Blade back to life.
